NBC's "Green Week": A Week-long Commercial for GE

Since we mentioned Tim Carney we thought we'd post an interesting clip of him on Glenn Beck's show. Tim was there to shed light on a fascinating story that went largely unreported.

Background: A little while ago NBC mandated a "green week", featuring "green-programming" on everything from the news to sitcoms. The week, NBC stated, was "aimed at entertaining, informing and empowering Americans to lead greener lives."

The unreported part was that NBC is owned by GE, which is trying to capitalize on the "green" craze. As Time's Daren Fonda put in an article from 2005:

Is [GE's CEO Jeff Immelt] responding to a guilty corporate conscience? Nope. He's seizing a blossoming opportunity: Green is where the green is. Eyeing the hot market for eco-friendly technologies like wind turbines, Immelt says he aims to double revenues in green products from $10 billion to $20 billion by 2010.
